چکیده

Abstract Background Patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) are at risk of decreased bone mineral density (BMD). The health status Chinese patients SMA has been poorly studied. We aimed to evaluate the BMD children types 2 and 3 in mainland China investigate its influencing factors. Methods Forty a mean age 5.5 years affected by ( n = 22 18, respectively) were enrolled between September 2017 May 2019. Total body less head (TBLH) BMD, lumbar spine (LS) composition measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Serum metabolism markers complete radiographs assessed. utilized linear regression model explore correlations related Results A total 67.5% (27/40) diagnosed low 2.5% (1/40) osteoporosis. TBLH LS Z-scores type significantly lower than those 3. Both tended increase change subtypes from 2a-3b. Vitamin D insufficiency deficiency found 37.5% (15/40) patients. Ca, phosphorus (P), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) parathormone (PTH) levels normal. There no significant differences among four terms all serum markers. Phenotype was associated Z-scores, PTH Z-scores. Conclusions Low osteoporosis highly prevalent level might be factors BMD. Regular monitoring DXA scan taking active interventions aim different important.

Bone Mineral Density in Children with Relapsing Nephrotic Syndrome

AbstractBackground: Given the high relapse rate of disease in children with steroid dependent nephrotic syndrome and the osteoporotic effect of long periods of steroid therapy, this survey was performed to find the bone mineral status of these patients. Methods: Bone mineral density and content (BMD and BMC) were measured using Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 37 nephrotic children, six girl...

Bone Mineral Density in Egyptian Children with Familial Mediterranean Fever

Background: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) has episodic or subclinical inflammation that may lead to a decrease in bone mineral density (BMD). The objective of this study was to assess BMD in Egyptian children with FMF on genetic basis. Methods: A cross sectional study included 45 FMF patients and 25 control children of both sexes in the age range between 3-16 years old. The patients were re...

Spinal bone mineral density, IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in children with cerebral palsy.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Childhood cerebral palsy (CP) is associated with osteopenia and the GH-IGF axis plays an important role in bone metabolism. We studied the relationship between spinal bone mineral density (BMD) and serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in children with CP. METHODS Cross-sectional study of 30 children (9 F and 21 M, ages 4.5-15) with CP. Subjects underwent dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry sc...
